Our commitment
Protecting our planet, preparing for tomorrow
Our environmental work runs on three tracks: efficient equipment and renewable energy, cleaner operational practice, and a culture where every employee is aware of the environmental consequence of the way a job is run.
The product itself matters most. A water-based ink removes solvent from the pressroom. A UV coating at almost 100 % solids emits almost no volatile organic compounds on cure. A low-migration formulation keeps what we make out of the food inside the pack.
Emissions from the product, not just the plant
Solvent-based systems release their carrier to atmosphere or to an abatement unit. Water-based flexo and gravure inks are formulated at 40–50 % solids against 25–35 % for solvent inks, so less carrier is applied per unit area, and co-solvent levels are kept low enough to stay within low-VOC classification.
UV and LED-curable systems contain no water and no solvent at all: solids are almost 100 %, so cure releases almost nothing. Our water-based heat-seal lacquer replaces a solvent lacquer that released several kilograms of solvent per thousand square metres of web.
Raw material selection
Every formulation is assessed against the EuPIA Charter on raw material selection and exclusion. The Charter keeps the explicit exclusions on heavy-metal pigments, named solvents and hazardous plasticisers, and adds a risk-based tier requiring substitution of non-threshold hazardous substances within a year.
Our coatings are ITX-free, heavy-metal free and toluene free, and our UV ranges are free of TPO.
