Our goal
Preserving the resources of our planet
Our planet’s resources are finite. At the pace and in the fashion we consume today, several earths would be needed to meet the world’s growing appetite for raw materials. The change required is one that reduces material intake, extends the life of products and materials, and moves industry toward a circular business model.
Our goal is to preserve resources by accelerating the transition toward circular business and operating models, and by designing our products so that the pack they decorate can be recovered at the end of its life.
Renewable feedstock
Raw materials are 50–60 % of a UV ink’s cradle-to-gate footprint, and almost all of the material we buy. Replacing petro-acrylate backbones with renewable feedstocks is therefore the largest single lever we control on both carbon and resource use.
Our bio-based UV oligomer platform uses itaconic, succinic and fatty-acid-derived acrylates and bio-based polyols, with bio-carbon content verified by radiocarbon analysis to ASTM D6866. The target is at least 40 % bio-based carbon by 2028 with no loss of performance.
Less material on the pack
High-strength pigment dispersions milled to a narrow particle-size distribution let a printer reach the same optical density from a thinner film and a finer anilox. Less ink per square metre is less material consumed, less energy to cure and less to remove at the recycling stage.
The same logic applies to coatings: because of low viscosity and high hardness, our UV coatings give the required result at low coat weight with good gloss retention.
