Overview

Sealing without solvent

The single-serve pouch for pan masala, mouth fresheners and similar products is one of India’s highest-volume packaging formats: a paper, aluminium-foil or metallised laminate, gravure printed, coated with a heat-seal lacquer at 4–8 g/m² and then formed, filled and sealed at high speed.

The lacquer has traditionally been a solvent-based vinyl or acrylic, releasing several kilograms of solvent per thousand square metres. Our water-based HSL meets the same seal strength, blocking, aroma-barrier and hot-tack requirements without that solvent.

Grades in this series

Seal Strength

Seals to itself on fin seals and to foil or paper on lap seals at jaw temperatures of 120–180 °C and dwell below 0.5 s, giving 300–600 g/15 mm, or a tamper-evident seal that tears the paper.

Blocking Resistance

Coated web wound at 40–50 °C unwinds cleanly after weeks in storage.

Aroma Barrier

Keeps menthol, cardamom and saffron volatiles in, and imparts no odour or taste of its own.

Product Resistance

Oils, essences and moisture in the contents do not soften or delaminate the seal.

Machine Behaviour

Hot tack strong enough to hold the seal while the pouch is warm, controlled slip for forming collars, and no build-up on sealing jaws.
