How to use them

Written to be used at the press, not filed

Fourteen guides, one for each product family. Each one opens as a slideshow in your browser: arrow keys or the on-screen buttons on a desktop, a swipe on a phone, and a full-screen button for the press room. Nothing to download and nothing to install.

Every guide gives the process and the variables to hold, then works through the faults that actually stop jobs. For each fault: what you see, a picture of the defect beside a correct print, the causes ordered by how often they are really the cause, what to check and in what order, what to change, how to confirm it is fixed, and the trap, which is the move operators reach for first and should not.

Every figure carries the method that produced it. The values that govern a supply are those on the Technical Data Sheet for the grade you buy.

What is in every guide

  • The process, step by step, with the one variable held at each step.
  • Control variables with their target, the instrument and standard that measures them, and how they drift through a run.
  • The mechanism that is most often misunderstood in that family, as a diagram.
  • Twenty faults, each with a picture of the defect, ranked causes, ordered checks, ordered changes, a confirmation test and the trap to avoid.
  • A quick-reference page: symptom, the first thing to check, the first thing to change.
  • The test methods behind every number in the guide.
  • What to send us when the press-floor fixes have not worked.

Cannot find the fault you have?

Send us the symptom, the substrate, the press and the ink batch, and we will work it through with you.
